Residency Appreciation Week

April 13 – 19, 2014

During the week of April 13 – 19, please join us in appreciating our residents and fellows during the annual Residency Appreciation Week. This week is celebrated by the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, the Capital Area Health Consortium and its member hospitals (Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Hartford Hospital, Hospital for Special Care, Hospital of Central Connecticut, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, University of Connecticut Health Center and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System). Remember to thank our residents and fellows for the care and compassion they show patients throughout the year. Look for the ad in the Hartford Courant on Monday, April 14th listing the names of all residents and fellows in gratitude for their service. Please contact the GME Office (860-679-2147) for additional information.

The Graduate Medical Education Office is involved in all aspects of an individual resident’s role here at the University of Connecticut starting at orientation and finishing at graduation, from one of the sponsored programs. We participate in the following activities:

  • Oversight of program quality
  • Development of housestaff policy
  • Oversight of the hiring process
  • Approving salary and benefits
  • Handling student loans
  • Handling credentialing of our housestaff
  • Communication with all major affiliates
  • Evaluation and promotion of residents

There are many things that we would like to assist you with. We are great resources and are able to help you move through the Greater Hartford Area. Please feel free to speak with us both before starting or during your clinical program. Many of your questions can be answered quickly, but more importantly, sometimes it is just nice to get to know you.
