Welcome from the Hand Surgery Program Director!

Thank you for your interest in our program! The University of Connecticut Hand Surgery Fellowship is a one year, ACGME accredited program. The Hand Surgery Fellowship is structured to provide advanced training in reconstructive hand surgery. Core faculty are fellowship trained Hand Surgeons - two board certified in orthopedics and one board certified in plastic surgery. Additional faculty are drawn from the department of orthopedics and the division of plastic surgery at Hartford Hospital.

Our program offers extensive experience in post-traumatic, degenerative, and congenital reconstructive surgery. You will also receive exposure to the management of acute hand trauma, including replantation is provided through emergency coverage of Hartford Hospital and the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Fellows supervise the weekly Hartford Hospital Hand Clinic and are responsible for all surgical procedures scheduled in this setting. Our program also offers weekly conferences, journal clubs, and arthroscopic labs. Ample time for research activity is also provided. The fellowship generates several publications per year.

We are proud of our program legacy. We have been training leading Hand Surgeons for over 45 years and we hope you will be next.
