In March or April, the Capital Area Consortium sends a welcome packet to all incoming residents that will include a list of housing information. As residents graduate, home/condo/apartment owners contact the Capital Area Consortium with available housing.

Helpful Tips:

  • Do research on any place of residence you are interested in and make sure to visit the place and neighborhood. Visit the state of Connecticut website,, which will provide you with information about various towns' business climate, education, leisure activities, and lifestyle. Some local counties and towns have their own web sites to provide information specific to that particular region.
  • Request information on schools, community programs, and parks and recreation from the local Chamber of Commerce.
  • We encourage you to talk to other fellows who are currently living in Connecticut. They will have concrete information and opinions to offer you based on living here.
  • Before signing a lease, please be sure you have done your research so you're certain it's a place you will be comfortable living in.
  • If you can't find what you are looking for online, you may want to drive around the West Hartford area, especially along the street called Boulevard Avenue. Many homes post rental signs on their lawns. Not all home renters advertise online.
