|Applying to our Program|
The University of Connecticut Medical Genetics Fellowship Program,
in partnership with Connecticut Children's Medical Center, is a unique program that
offers a broad based approach to the field of Genetics. Fellows will have
opportunities to experience all areas of the field, including evaluation of
patients with known or suspected inherited conditions, prenatal consultations
and laboratory work with neuromuscular diseases and hereditary cancer.
It is the philosophy of the fellowship programs at the University of Connecticut that hands on experience is the best education. Following the same vein, the fellow will be given graduated responsibility through the course of the program as to encourage autonomy and enhance confidence.
There are two paths of the program. The two year program is a strictly Medical Genetics program. The fellow will do rotations and consultations dealing strictly with this field. It is offered to students who have completed a United States residency program.
The five year program is integrated with the Pediatric Residency program. The fellow will have rotations in both the pediatric field and the medical genetics field. This program is offered to students who have completed medical school and are looking to begin a residency.
